The Radio City Rockettes will perform at the inaugural celebration of Donald J. Trump next month, a spokesman for the presidential inaugural committee said Thursday.
The spokesman, Boris Epshteyn, said in an interview on Thursday that it was not yet clear in which part of the celebration they would appear. He declined to say whether the dance troupe offered to perform.
James L. Dolan, the executive chairman of the Madison Square Garden Company, said in a statement that the Rockettes were “treasured American icons,” and noted that they had performed at the inaugurations of George W. Bush in 2001 and 2005. Radio City Music Hall and the Rockettes are among the company’s brands.
“We are honored that the Rockettes have again been asked to perform in the upcoming inauguration festivities,” he said.
The dance company has appeared at Radio City Music Hall since 1925. Its members are best known for their high kicks and precision performances in the “Christmas Spectacular.”
They have appeared in other high-profile events, such as Super Bowl halftime shows, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parades and New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square.
“They represent many women from around the country and really what is best about the country,” Mr. Epshteyn said in an interview on CNN. “We’re very excited and honored to have them be a part of the 58th inaugural.”
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which has performed at previous presidential inaugurations, will also appear, he said.
“The inauguration as a whole will be an exciting and uniting celebration of freedom and democracy,” Mr. Epshteyn said in a statement.
